Where can I find paper and ink for my printer?

See your department chair.

Department Chairs - A good source for cheap inkjet printer cartridges is T.D. Curran if they carry the bargain quality (cheaper, non-brand name) cartridge for your printer(s).

How do I set up my own website for my classes?

See Rod Milstead for details and account setup.

Remember that having a class website is a maintenance responsibility.  An outdated class website may be worse than no class website.

How do I project my computer image for my whole class to see?

You can project your computer screen image for the whole class to see by checking out a computer projector from the Service Center.

The projectors are available on a sign-out basis as availability permits.

Please remember to return the projector as soon as you are done or communicate with the Service Center Technician to prevent other teachers from being inconvenienced.

Check with David Sondheim if you don't know how to set up the computer projector with your computer.

How do I share my files with my colleagues?

You can place a copy of files you would like to share into a folder on the network that colleagues at Drake can access.

See David or Will to have a folder set up.  The folder will be placed in the m:\_staff folder.

I make changes to my computer but when I restart the computer they are gone. (What is Deep Freeze and what is it doing to my computer?)

In response to the massive adware (popup ads) and spyware problems encountered in the Spring of 2004, we have installed Deep Freeze on all lab computers and we are installing it on classroom computers as needed.

Deep Freeze protects the computer from any changes so upon restart the computer will be in the exact same configuration it was at the last restart.  The good side of this is that any inadvertent changes to your system made by spyware or adware will be erased upon restarting the computer.  We have virtually eliminated  the spyware/adware problem in the computer labs using Deep Freeze and we are very happy with its performance.

The downside to Deep Freeze is that if it is installed on your computer, any changes you try to make to your computer (installing new programs, changing configuration settngs, etc.) will disappear when you restart your computer.  If you need to have changes made after Deep Freeze has been installed, let Will know and he will make those changes for you.  Will normally lets teachers know if Deep Freeze has been installed but if you're not sure, look for the following icon in the bottom right corner of your screen (in the System Tray):
