Virtually all English teachers, and most Social Studies and Science teachers have students word process documents. Currently, we use Microsoft Word as our standard word processor. See Will Steele if Microsoft Office is not installed on your computer.
Microsoft PowerPoint is our standard presentation software. Many teachers have their students use PowerPoint for presentations including Academy X, ROCK, SEA-DISC and some Science, World Languages and Social Studies teachers.
ComAcad, Academy X, ROCK and Science teachers have students create web pages and web sites using Macromedia's Dreamweaver. These are in addition to the web pages/sites created by students in the Applied Technology department's Web Design class.
The Science department uses Microsoft Excel to analyze scientific data in student lab experiments and field work. Field work in SEA-DISC has incorporated the use of handheld computers to assist in data gathering.
ComAcad and the Applied Technology Department's ROP Video Production course use Adobe Premiere and assorted specialty software to create digital video projects. Individual teachers have begun using Windows MovieMaker, iMovie or Pinnacle Studio to create video projects as well.
The Engineering Academy uses Autodesk's AutoCAD to create architectural design projects.
Our Music Technology classes use Reason and ProTools to create and edit music.
Our Computer Graphics classes use Photoshop, Illustrator and Painter for 2D still graphics. They use Flash for 2D animations. For 3D still and animated work, they use Bryce and 3DSMax.
