Logging In
Remember - everyone must log in to use the computers.  The login format is below and depends on when you came to Drake.

Teachers
First letter of the first name followed by the complete last name.

Examples:
Jane Doe, a teacher, would log in typing jdoe as her login name.

All Students
First name followed by a period followed by the last name.

Examples:
Jane Smith would log in typing jane.smith as her login name.

If this is the first time a student has logged in, their password will be their student ID number.  They should immediately change this password to a password they will remember and someone else won't guess.

If a user  cannot remember her/his password,  leave Will a message at ext. 3450 telling him the name and grade level of the student).

Logging Off
Please don't forget to log off your computer when leaving it unattended or after finishing your work.  The most common reason for unauthorized access into confidential files and data occurs as a result of a user leaving the computer logged in and unattended.

Saving Files
Users should save files to their i:\ drives.  This is the drive with their login name on it.  They will then be able to access their files from any computer on campus or, using the Remote Access feature on the Drake Website, from home.  Also, the files on a user's i:\ drive are backed up nightly as a protective measure.

Remote Access
Users are able to access their files from home using the Remote Access feature on the Drake Website.  You will be able to upload files from your home computer to your user folder and download files from your user folder to your home computer.
